WHAT ARE DERMAL FILLERS?

Dermal fillers are gel like injectable products that are used to add volume, fullness and enhance contour of the face. They can be used to treat a variety of concerns, including wrinkles, fine lines, and volume loss in the face. Dermal fillers are made from different substances, such as hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, and poly-L-lactic acid.

These substances are found naturally in the body and are used to add volume and fullness. The effects of dermal fillers can last for several months to over a year, depending on the type of filler and the area being treated. Some common areas where dermal fillers are used include:

• Nasolabial folds (lines running from the nose to the corners of the mouth)

• Lips (to add volume and definition)

• Cheeks (to add volume and fullness)

• Jawline (to define and contour)

• Smoker lines (to smooth out the appearance of fine lines)

WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?

The results of dermal fillers are typically immediate and you should be able to see an improvement in the treated area right after the procedure. However, it is common to have some swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection site, which can temporarily obscure the final result. These side effects typically resolve within a few days to a week and you may see your final result in 2 weeks. Follow up in 2 weeks is recommended for correction.
